Smooth 9.65LC vs. Lifespan Pro 3

Treadmills up for inspection today: The Smooth 9.65 LC and the Lifespan Pro 3.

This is almost the exact same competition as last round, only the Lifespan was competing against the Smooth 9.65TV instead of the 9.65LC. The LC is almost the exact same thing as the TV except it doesn’t have a TV. Go figure. The price jump for the TV affects the value of the unit overall, which may change the outcome of this round. I didn’t want to pit these two up against eachother, but I kept feeling like they were the best suited against eachother, so I did anyway. However, since this is such a similar comparison as that of last round, this one should be short and sweet.

The Lifespan Pro 3 is $2,499 and the Smooth 9.65 LC is $2,199. The frame and layout of the Lifespan is a selling point on the machine. It has a wider base which keeps it sturdier than most other treadmills. The design of the frame, deck, and drive system isn’t very unique or different, but it’s made with excellent quality and good parts, which makes all the difference. The deck is reversible and can hold up to 350 lbs without any trouble. The specs don’t tell the whole story with the treadmill. I can go out and find some crumbly sub-$1000 treadmill that may have similar specs to this, but this model has super quality parts and design through and through, and instead of stretching their specs like most cheap treadmills will do, this one is actually being modest about them. The Motor is only 3.0 CHP, which is easy to beat at this price, but compared to most of the 3.5 CHP motors you can find at this price to this, i would still take the Lifespan’s 3.0 CHP due to quality, quietness, durability, and good reviews.

Despite all that however, I couldn’t justify buying the Lifespan’s motor over the Smooth 9.65LC’s giant 4.0 CHP motor. The Smooth 9.65LC is huge all around. The machine is built practically like a club treadmill, but priced and placed with the home treadmills. It’s Smooth’s biggest and strongest treadmill. The fully welded steel frame is solid as a rock, and doesn’t budge no matter how hard you are on it. The strength of it keeps the treadmill quiet and secure, and the motor is also surprisingly quiet. The weight capacity is 400 lbs, so you’ll most likely never need to worry about breaking the deck. If however, anything ever were to happen, Smooth gives it a lifetime warranty on the motor, frame, and parts. You don’t see a lifetime parts warranty on very many treadmills, so that’s huge.

The smooth has a 21″ x 64″ treadbelt, which is one of the largest treadmill belts on the market. It has 28 built in workouts, and an excellent impression shock absorption cushioning system, large 3″ rollers, a large blue backlit display, and more..Check out the specs below for more details on both.

The lifespan Pro is a good treadmill, but the Smooth 9.65LC is unbelievable, and it’s about $300 cheaper. The final touch on the Smooth is it’s amazing lifetime parts warranty.
